Jameel Ahmad Paul started reading newspapers at an early age, following his grandfather’s example. From grade 5 to 8 he attended school in East Pakistan. At the time, an independent movement was underway, which led to the creation of Bangladesh. The struggle by Bengalis to retain their mother language and identity inspired Paul to start writing in Punjabi. He completed a MA in Punjabi, Urdu, and Political Science, as well as a PHD from Punjab University, Lahore. He has earned a stellar reputation as lecturer in four different universities. He has impacted the lives of hundreds of students. Along with many publications, he authored four collections of short stories in Punjabi. He has dedicated his energy and literary talent to promote Punjabi language and literature. In 2022, he was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan.
